Hi! I'm Melissa (and that's my husband, Onur). I like stripey socks, dark chocolate, snow, and peanut butter. I'm passionate about exploring new places, trying new sports, meeting pups on the trail, reaching high summits with spectacular mountain views, and sharing these places with others though writing and photography.
I'm originally from North Salem, New York, and I fell in love with hiking in Washington State when I hiked to the summit of Mount St. Helens for the first time. Since then, I've hiked over 1500 miles throughout the state from beachside strolls to mountain summits. My favorites are Mount St. Helens, Lila Lake, Third Burroughs, Sahale Glacier Camp, and Buckhorn Mountain.
From 2015-2017, I was a hiking guide correspondent and contributor to the Washington Trails Association. At the start of 2018, my husband and I relocated to California, where I'm currently hiking, exploring, and photographing trailscapes. In my free time I'm usually planning my next hike and downloading podcasts to listen to on drives to hikes. I also enjoy cooking and baking, playing piano, and sipping coffee at a vista with Onur.
